Choosing a Jacksonville Real Estate Brokerage for Agents: Why Being in the Room Still Matters
Do you have to live near your real estate brokerage anymore?
Technically, maybe not. But at CrossView Realty, we’ve made the decision to work with agents who live close enough to our Jacksonville office to be here in person on a regular basis, because we’ve seen how much agents gain when they learn, train, and grow together.
Every once in a while, someone finds our website from outside the Jacksonville area and reaches out about joining CrossView Realty.
And we love that.
It means something we’re sharing connected with you.
Maybe it was our approach to training.
Maybe it was our culture.
Maybe you liked something we said about coaching or building a real estate career.
But then comes the question.
“I live a couple of hours away. Can I still join?”
For us, the answer is generally no.
And there’s a reason behind that.
Why Our Jacksonville Real Estate Brokerage for Agents Isn’t Fully Remote
Real estate has become more virtual.
You can sign documents online.
You can attend meetings online.
You can watch training videos from your couch.
You can run a lot of your business from your phone.
So technically, we could recruit agents all over Florida and tell everyone to log in whenever they need something.
But just because we can do that doesn’t mean we think we should.
A long time ago, we made the decision that CrossView Realty was going to be built around agents who could actually participate in the brokerage.
That doesn’t mean sitting in the office five days a week.
We don’t expect that.
You have clients to meet, houses to show, appointments to attend, and a business to run.
But we do want our agents close enough to Jacksonville that coming into the office at least once a week is realistic.
Because we’ve seen what happens when they do.
There’s Something Different About Learning Together
We have online resources.
We use technology.
There are absolutely things you can learn from home and complete on your own schedule.
But some of the best learning we see at CrossView Realty happens because people are in the same room.
Training starts with one topic.
Then somebody asks a question.
Another agent says, “That happened to me last week.”
Someone else shares how they handled it.
Then the conversation moves into contracts, inspections, negotiations, a difficult client situation, or something happening in the Northeast Florida market right now.
And suddenly everyone in the room learned something they didn’t know they needed to learn that morning.
That’s hard to recreate online.
It’s not impossible.
It’s just different.
Sometimes the Best Training Happens After the Training
This might be the part people underestimate.
Training ends.
And nobody leaves.
Someone has another question.
Two agents start talking about a transaction.
A few people decide to go grab lunch.
Someone mentions a problem they’re having with their business, and another agent has an idea that helps.
Those conversations matter.
In our experience, agents who consistently participate tend to become more knowledgeable because they’re exposed to more situations than just their own.
You may only have three transactions going on.
But if you’re sitting in a room with 10 other agents talking about their transactions too, you’re learning from all of those experiences.
That can make a huge difference.
Being Part of a Brokerage Should Feel Like Being Part of Something
There are plenty of brokerage models where you can put your license somewhere, work completely independently, and rarely interact with anyone.
And that model may be exactly what some agents want.
There’s nothing wrong with knowing what works for you.
It’s just not what we’re trying to build at CrossView Realty.
We want our agents to know each other.
We want them to ask each other questions.
We want experienced agents helping newer agents.
We want agents talking through situations together.
We want people going to lunch after training and actually enjoying the people they work alongside.
Because real estate can be a pretty lonely business if you let it.
You spend a lot of time driving around by yourself.
You handle problems by yourself.
You deal with clients, contracts, negotiations, inspections, appraisals, and all the unexpected things that somehow show up in a transaction.
Having people around you who understand what you’re dealing with makes the experience different.
Why We Don’t Recruit Agents Who Live Too Far Away
This is where we have to be honest about fit.
Someone may find CrossView Realty online and really like what we offer.
But if you live so far away that coming to Jacksonville for weekly training isn’t realistic, we probably aren’t the right brokerage for you.
And we’d rather tell you that upfront.
We could bring you on.
We could give you access to our technology.
We could send you training materials.
But you would be missing a big part of what we believe makes CrossView valuable.
The conversations.
The relationships.
The coaching.
The questions that come up in the room.
The ability to sit down with people and work through something together.
That’s part of the brokerage.
Not an extra.
How CrossView Realty Approaches Agent Growth
At CrossView Realty, we believe agents benefit from being connected to the people around them.
That’s why our approach combines training, coaching, technology, broker support, peer conversations, and in-person participation.
You don’t need to be sitting at a desk in our Jacksonville office every day.
We don’t want you there every day.
We want you out building your business.
But we do want you close enough to come back, plug in, learn, ask questions, share what you’re experiencing, and be part of the team.
That’s the difference.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does CrossView Realty hire agents who live outside Jacksonville?
A: Yes, depending on where you live. You do not have to live inside Jacksonville city limits, but we generally look for agents who are within a reasonable driving distance of our office and can participate in weekly in-person training.
Q: Is CrossView Realty a remote real estate brokerage?
A: No. We use plenty of technology and our agents do not need to work from the office every day, but CrossView Realty is intentionally built around in-person training, coaching, collaboration, and relationships.
Q: How often do CrossView Realty agents need to come to the office?
A: Agents aren’t expected to commute to the office every day. We do expect our agents to be able to participate regularly in weekly in-person training and stay connected with the brokerage.
Q: Why does in-person training matter at a Jacksonville real estate brokerage for agents?
A: The planned training is only part of the value. Being together gives agents opportunities to ask questions, hear about situations other agents are experiencing, discuss current transactions, and learn from conversations that may never happen when everyone works completely independently.
Q: What if I really like CrossView Realty but live too far away?
A: We’d still love for you to use the educational content we share. Follow along, read the blog, and take whatever ideas help your business. But if regularly coming to our Jacksonville office isn’t realistic, another brokerage closer to you will probably be a better fit.
Q: What areas does CrossView Realty recruit agents from?
A: We consider agents throughout Northeast Florida as long as they’re close enough to participate in the brokerage. That can include Jacksonville, St. Johns, Orange Park, Fleming Island, the Beaches, West Jacksonville, Baldwin, Macclenny, Yulee, Callahan, and surrounding communities.
